Hempstead FFA Project Show
Huge Success

Preliminary figures indicate the 18th Annual Hempstead FFA Project Show held at the Waller County Fairgrounds on February 22 & 23 was a huge success. At the end of the auction, forty-eight lots had brought in almost $55,000.00 for the students and FFA Chapter at Hempstead High School.

The scholarship pig brought in $10,000 this year with donations from each of the following: DiIorio Farms, Chappell Hill Sausage, Coldwell Banker, Schwarz, Babbitt Custom Homes, U.D. Douglas, Hometown Hardware, Schulte Building Systems, Country Living Mortgage, and Micro Machine Works. This money will go directly to the seniors in the Hempstead FFA Chapter through scholarships.

The top five buyers for this year's project show were: Schulte Building Systems, Styers Construction, Micro Machine Works, Lawrence Marshall Dealerships and Chappell Hill Sausage.

Grand Champion Broilers – Jeremy Bettis purchased by Lawrence Marshall Dealerships for $1000.00
Reserve Champion Broilers – Rebecca Basgal purchased by Edmonds Insurance for $800.00
Grand Champion Rabbits – Todd Springer purchased by Waller County Cleaners for $650.00
Reserve Champion Rabbits – Montanna Harper purchased by Lewis Grocery & Deli for $525.00
Grand Champion Goat – Lauren Hamric purchased by Brookshire Brothers for $1000.00
Reserve Champion Goat – Dustin Hamric purchased by Lawrence Marshall Dealerships for $700.00
Grand Champion Lamb – Anthony Machac purchased by Harlan's Food Market for $950.00
Reserve Champion Lamb – Anthony Machac purchased by Coldwell Banker for $800.00
Grand Champion Swine – Ramon Saucedo purchased by Country Living Mortgage & Schwarz for $1000.00
Reserve Champion Swine – Justin DiIorio purchased by Brookshire Brothers for $1000.00
Grand Champion Heifer – Britni Becvar purchased by Micro Machine Works for $2200.00
Reserve Champion Heifer – Clint Stepan purchased by Chappell Hill Sausage for $2200.00
